Founded by Melissa Garcia in 2017, Closet Gold is a destination for women desiring effortless style with of course, a little edge.  

Where did name Closet Gold come from? For as long as I can remember, any piece of clothing or any accessory or pair of shoes that I had in my wardrobe that were INSANE irreplaceable treasures – were given the name “Closet Gold”.   My most favorite pair of leopard harem pants, yup they are most definitely “Closet Gold”. So, when choosing the name of my brand it of course had to be Closet Gold – my vision is to create treasurable pieces of Closet Gold, irreplaceable INSANE pieces of fashion, so every woman can have their own “Closet Gold”.

How was Strands by Closet Gold born? Well, clothes are obviously a huge part of my life but most of the time, I love wearing jeans and a t-shirt but of course always needing to make it my own.  So, I’d make my basic jeans and t-shirt, unique and “my own” by accessorizing the heck outta it, which meant adding jewelry – layering necklaces, pulling for a statement earring or stacking on rings.  Which got me thinking, there’s got to be another way to make a t-shirt or jeans edgy, trendy and unique – jewelry can’t be the only answer!  

Instead of accessorizing our “body” with jewelry to make our outfits unique – I thought, maybe there’s an edgy and amazing way to accessorize and personalize our CLOTHING which lead to the creation of Strands by Closet Gold – a magnetic piece of decadent texture, edge and style that can be added to almost any shirt, shoes, bag, jeans – let your imagination run wild!  A simple t-shirt, an ordinary pair of jeans or conventional bag is completely transformed into something edgy and amazing when using Strands by Closet Gold.

So after pouring my heart and soul into perfecting this insanely amazing accessory, I'm so excited to finally share with you Strands by Closet Gold.  I'm beyond honored to have you indulge in this collection, this brand and this new beginning with me.  I'm confident you'll fall in love with it all.

** We are huge fans of wearing Strands by Closet Gold on your back pockets to add some sparkle to your denim, but we'd hate for you to lose a Strand, so be extra careful when sitting down or standing up. Even though the magnets are super powerful, they can become knocked out of position!

ABOUT MELISSA GARCIA

After practicing law for 10 years, Melissa Garcia left it all behind to follow her dreams in fashion and hasn’t looked back since. 

Melissa has quickly become an expert in the fashion industry appearing as a regular fashion/lifestyle contributor on national shows such as The TODAY Show, Wendy Williams, E! News and EXTRA!.  She offers her fashion expertise for national publications such as The Daily News, Life & Style and Closer Magazine, has contributed to a weekly fashion column for E! Online; has been featured as an expert on IvankaTrump.com, Loreal.com, NewYorkMagazine.com, Yahoo.com and Buzzfeed.com to name a few and has appeared as a Business of Fashion field correspondent for international television program Fashion One News.  Melissa’s relatability, professionalism and expertise make her one of the most highly sought after fashion experts.

Melissa has styled national campaigns for brands such as Garnier, Eva Longoria Collection and Wendy Williams HSN Collection and has enjoyed collaborating with brands such as JCPenny and H&M for on-air fashion segments. She also enjoys styling celebrities both on and off camera.  Melissa has styled for red carpet events and has worked with television producers to help create looks for characters and assisted talent agencies to help shape their clients “branded image”.

She has experience hosting fashion shows/events – most recently hosting as an Emcee for Westfield and Simon malls as well as Bloomingdales.

Charity work is also something Melissa strongly embraces.  She styled a charity shoot benefiting the Women’s Prison Organization, has offered her services for both women’s and children’s cancer organizations, has been a volunteer for Dress for Success and has given her time to host benefit events for hospitals and museums.
